Episode video:

Published: 24th January 2019

Hosts: Malcolm BoodenDaren Fulwell

Guests: None

In this episode Malcolm and Daren discuss the design principles, building blocks and behaviour of Cisco's SD-WAN product.  Formerly Viptela, Cisco acquired the product in mid 2017 in order to develop their software-defined networking capabilities.

Cisco SD-WAN is a fully-featured integrated software-defined networking product, which uses many concepts which will be familiar to the viewer, and others that are less so.  We bring the practical experience of designing such networks to the video and discuss some of the pitfalls and gotchas experienced along the way.

Comments, corrections or criticisms always welcome.  You can contact us at @netfreestyle on Twitter or email us at  You can also leave comments on the blog or on the Youtube channel - we look forward to hearing what you have to say, and hopefully have the power problems sorted out before next time!
